There has been a covey of quail hanging around the pond and the lavendar lately. I've counted as many as 15. Today, there are at least 4 fewer. I've never seen these quail fly. When they are scared of me, they just run fast. It's amazing at how fast their little feet can move. But this afternoon, something scared them so much that they flew. Four of them flew into a window and died. The rest scattered. I suspect that either the bobcat that's been patrolling, or the red hawk that's been lurking, scared the quail. It's quite possible that one or more were eaten.
