Skyline Blvd. collapsed last week about two miles north of us. The chasm is supposed to be 150 or more feet wide and up to one-quarter of a mile deep. There is no estimate on when this will be fixed, or whether it can be fixed, so it looks as if all routes north are out of the question. Route 9 was our main route to Saratoga and also a favorite to take to Boulder Creek and Santa Cruz. Route 35 north was also the scenic route to San Francisco and the route to Alice's, a great hamburger place popular with us mountain folks as well as all the local bikers.
We now have one reasonable route out of here...Black Road. And one not-so-reasonable, the one-lane southern part of Route 35 that connects to Bear Creek Road.
