Spring Can't Come Soon Enough

Updated: Apr 11, 2023

After returning from the extended power outage, we got enough rain to melt the snow and free the Prius. Within a few days, the turkeys showed up again. We saw them last just before Thanksgiving. Much to my surprise, there were eleven turkeys. Two were the males in charge, the rest were younger, a mix of hens and young toms. First one of them showed up. When I tossed some food out, the other ten came running.

It started raining quite heavily again. The daffodils were up but most of the blooms weren't open. I was concerned that the plants might be flattened by the rain and wind. The wind got quite high--high enough to be of great concern to me. I was in the cabin and didn't dare walk to the main house for fear of being hit by a flying branch. The newspaper reported gusts of up to 80 mph or so in the mountains. It finally subsided. Then the power went out.

Without any snow to stop us, we immediately left and headed for the valley. It took three day for PGE to get the power back on. Let's hope it stays on . The next storm front arrives tomorrow, although the reports are that it will be milder than expected. After that, I hope to see signs of Spring. Some warm weather and sunshine would be ice.
