As spring approaches summer, the grasses dry up and spring wildflowers disappear. Early summer brings a few flowers that seem to thrive despite the dry conditions. I think they are actually late blooming spring flowers, because most of these would be in full bloom in May at a lower elevation. We are at 2,800 feet.

Dwarf Brodiaea.
The past few weeks I've seen large patches of Calochortus Luteus (Gold Nuggests). Today only a few remain due to the dry conditions. This flower, like most I've seen today, is buggy. Perhaps it's because the flowers are moist, unlike the grasses.
